The night drags on
as my headlights don't
seem bright enough to
light my way tonight.


I was taught not to overdrive
my lights in school
but that seems to be
all that I can do tonight.


My eyes scan warily
trying to stay open
as I look for elk, deer
and maybe even lions, tigers, and bears.
